“My #1 reason for hanging clothes: time management. When I dry clothes in the dryer (which I must do in Illinois in the winter) I need to be there when the dryer stops or everything comes out wrinkled, so I can’t walk away except for short periods. When I line dry, I can walk away – go shopping, have fun, garden, whatever – and the clothes will be fine no matter how long they hang on the line after they’re dry.”

a comment I left on the first site
Hello and Hare Krishna,
I wear long white robes for I am Hare Krishna priest. If it put the robes (dhotis) in the dryer then there is no possibility of wearing them without thoroughly ironing them. However I put the robes on a clothesline then they come out quite nice and may need a little quick ironing. I prefer installing lines in my house (I have them in my laundry room) for it helps with allergies whereas outside permits the possibilities of picking up pollen.

Didn’t work well for us. Diapers take too long to dry. We have very hard water, and air-drying makes the clothes very hard and stiff. With a family of 7, there’s not enough room to hang clothes indoors, and even outdoors drying takes too long to keep up with the laundry.
Of course for those who are able, it’s a great practice.

Another good reason: stains don’t get set when air dried. So if you miss one, you can relaunder it and still have a chance to get the stain out. This is important if you resell (Ebay) or want to use them as hand-me-downs. All our kids clothes are air dried on hangars in our laundry room closet.

I did not know that.
The benefits seem to be innumerable.
